| Summary | 0001666: [Smart3][ATV12] Request to review the issue that app ICON image is not visible in the app list. | ||||
| Description | Hi Kerwin There was an issue during the SKB test yesterday. The content of the issue is - When a user installs a new app using the playstore, the app icon image is not displayed on the screen as shown below. Please check the attached picture This issue occurs using Google webview (persist.sys.skb.mode 1) If you use SKB custom webview, this issue does not occur. (persist.sys.skb.mode 0) If the NativeUI/WebUI changes for this issue, This will cause problems with the overall SKB project schedule. Therefore, SKB will proceed with the Google test as it is. SKB is asking for an opinion on how to deal with this issue. First of all, there were two suggestions. 1) request waiver 2) Persuade 3PL for example > these ICONs may not be visible due to the difference between 3PL's test environment and the field-user environment. After recording the video image that operates normally, it is delivered to 3PL ( As mentioned above, persist.sys.skb.mode 0 must be set for normal operation. ) This issue will be handled in the same way by three manufacturers. Is there any way or suggestion to resolve this situation? Thank you YK.Jung | ||||

Hi YK, Please refer to the attachment (Test_env_v1.xlsx) I listed all combinations. if you have any question, you can discuss it with me directly. According to the attachment, We/3PL can finished most test at SKB login page, if Digicap can unlock power/mute at login page, Only "SmokeTest Customer Launcher related item" need to login SKB account. That is why we strongly recommend Digicap unlock it when persist.skb.mode = 1 For your question, most items will be finished in SKB login page, 1. if 3PL finish most of items (including install 3rd app) -> do the Google reset -> login SKB account for testing Customer Launcher related item: They will not see the icon issue. 2. if 3PL finish most of items (including install 3rd app) -> login SKB account for testing Customer Launcher related item: They will see the icon issue. I think the 2nd case, we can ask SKB to capture the video to prove that the icon is shown correctly in SKB network. Thanks, Jason |

Hi Jason For INTEK, the STB delivered to 3PL does not display ICON of the newly installed app. Because 3PL's STBs have already been marking (flag) Therefore, if 3PL connects to Korea SKB network through VPN and confirms it, INTEK has no way anymore. (The risk is high.) Therefore, INTEK's opinion is to proceed with waiver on this issue. - these issues are currently occurring structurally, so this issue is occurring. (Of course, SKB should prepare data on the description of this issue. ) - This issue will be fixed by when next. INTEK is proposing a waiver method to SKB. Why don't we suggest waiver, too? Thanks YK.Jung |

Hi YK, I have a question, our QA use Korean VPN to login SKB account, and never modified persist.sys.skb.mode. (it means persist.sys.skb.mode is not 1) they still can not see the icon. Am I misunderstanding something? >>Why don't we suggest waiver, too? Did you think Google can accept it? Common feedback are as follows "why other customer haven't requested it?" Based on my experience, if SKB can capture the good video under their environment. I think our 3PL can accept it. Thanks, Jason |

Hi Jason case persist.sys.skb.mode is not 1 ==> icon shound be visible If tester still can't see the icon, please check the WebUI version and let me know. >> "why other customer haven't requested it?" The reason is that this issue was caused by the webUI structure implemented by SKB. so this issue may not occur in other customers. I think we need to discuss with SKB/INTEK/INNOPIA how to proceed. Thanks YK.Jung |

Hi YK, case persist.sys.skb.mode is not 1 ==> icon shound be visible If tester still can't see the icon, please check the WebUI version and let me know. WebUI version: 5.3.6.99049 >> "why other customer haven't requested it?" >>The reason is that this issue was caused by the webUI structure implemented by SKB. >>so this issue may not occur in other customers. The reply will be why did SKB can not fix it before submitting to 3PL. In general, if the bug is fixable, it's hard to request waiver. This product has been on the market for a long time, shipping pressure/schedule may not be the reason. Anyway, if SKB want all OEMs do the request waiver, please provide waiver information. Thanks, Jason |

Hi Jason Each manufacturers(INTEK/INNOPIA) will send a video through 3PL to persuade them. "This is observed in the 3PL test box (perist.sys.skb.mode is 1). End users (perist.sys.skb.mode is not 1) cannot see this issue." SKB wants to proceed as described above. Please proceed with the above method first. Thanks YK.Jung |

Hi YK, In Foxconn/3PL working model. We don't need to provide video in advance, unless our 3PL can't test and ask us for it. I think you can prepare it for us first if you can see the icon in your environment. Flash the image (15.537.14, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qB0lCU_UKhynsqLs8304wm5y6n_6yboz/view?usp=share_link) Capture from HomeUI Go to PlayStore Install one app After the installation is complete, return to the home page Check if the app is shown in HomeUI Go to GoogleSettings > Device preference > About Capture the latest column (FW version) Thanks, Jason |
